The purpose of the LCA Eagles Sports Program is to provide students with an opportunity to glorify God through sports by: Exhibiting God's creative power evident in the unique capabilities of the human mind, body, and spirit. (Gen. 1:27). The superiority of the mind, body, and spirit of man point to the Creator who made us in His own image. Developing and exhibiting a strong work ethic. (Col. 3:23-24) Athletes must learn to give every practice and game their best efforts as though working for God in their pursuits. Developing and exhibiting exceptional unity and teamwork. (1 Cor. 12:12, John 13:35) All players will learn to work together as a team, valuing the contributions of others and seeking to benefit the team rather than themselves. Developing and exhibiting self-control. (Gal. 5:22-23) Students will learn to be self-controlled in even the most heated competition. Loving the opponent. (Rom. 12:16, 17; Gal. 5:26; Eph. 4:29) Students will hold the opponent in higher esteem than themselves, seeking to promote peace, and to speak only words that encourage him. As Players of the LCA Eagles: I will comply with the coaches' and leaders' guidance and direction. I will support my teammates in each Eagles activity and not be critical of any players, including myself, but rather encourage Christ like sportsmanship. I will come to each Eagles activity with patience and kindness, upholding one another, being non- argumentative; all concerns will be directed to my coach. I will come to each LCA activity demonstrating a positive attitude and showing respect to all coaches, players and spectators. I will remember that as I participate, I am representing Jesus to the world, and that I need to maintain a Christ like attitude in both word and deed. I agree to stay current with my studies and keep a good grade average. I agree to be at every practice and game unless the coach is contacted with a valid reason for not attending. Unexcused absence may result in less playing time. I agree to respect the building that games and practices are held and will follow the building rules. As the Parents of Athlete(s): We agree to immediately correct and enforce any behavior that is not consistent with the player agreement. Have athletes to all practice/games on time. Help in concession/time clock/set up and clean up as needed. Respect the gym space and building where practices and games are held. This document is signed by both the student-athlete and the parents and kept on file with the team.
