Getting to know Mr. Honaker~

Family

My family and I moved to Grand Rapids in 2018. My wife, Amanda, and I have been married for 17 years. We have 2 kids, Josiah and Leilani, who both attend LCA. We have a black lab, Selah, who is basically the best dog we've ever had - except she is really rude to strangers by barking at them! We have a grey cat named Sophie.

Education and Experience

My wife and I have attempted to be responsive and faithful to the Lord's leading in all aspects of our life. When presented with the possibility to teach Bible and Math this coming year, we took it to the Lord and prayer. As He often does, His answer surprised us a little. I do have a passion for my relationship with the Lord and passing that passion on to the next generation is pretty natural. So, we are stepping out in faith that the Lord will meet our worldly need as we follow Him. This will be my first year teaching after a satisfying career as a missionary and air ambulance pilot.

Interests and Hobbies

I enjoy camping, biking, model airplanes, playing bass, and combat flight simulators.

Favorite Scripture(s)

I wouldn't say I have a favorite scripture, but Revelation 12:11 has been a guiding light on many a dark night. "They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death."
